This elephant is unnamed yet, he came from Chiang Mai with his mother as she did not have milk when she gave birth of her second baby elephant. This couple have been living at the camp for about 3 months since the baby was born. But it 's a bit sad that this couple is belonged to the private owner in Chiang Mai and definitely they have to be back home when the baby elephant is stronger and bigger..  At the first time this baby elephant was very skinny, because he did not have enough milk from his own mother so we raised donation of formula from Thai people and feed him very single day. Now the baby elephant is very lovely and very cute and become healthy ....

unname baby elephant

Just updated the picture of Srisiam 6 years old little boy was rescued from Phrae Province by very kind donor from USA bought this two couple from the owner about 3 years ago..

As she is my most beloved elephant in the camp, Prachaub she is now about 28 years old. I just want to play with her by putting the sugarcane on the head of Prachaub and let see how she gets it on her own head...

This video I also want to show Akiko who is in the hospital for spinal cord problem ( she just emailed me this morning to inform that she could not come for her elephant Prachaub in December) I wish this video will make her happy and big laugh.

Just post this video for some friends who would like to see how lovely Ai is as she is drinking the formula that his mahout mixed it for him.. Ai he has to drink the formula 4 times every day and six o' clock is his last meal of the day..

Loy Krathong
What is going on with Loy Krathong?
What are its true goals?
And
How can we make it better?

Special Holidays allow working people to have not only a physical rest but also to fill up their souls with all kinds of emotional and spiritual desire.

So everyone from everywhere or every country is looking for a holiday. Yes, every country has a holiday based on their different traditional culture, politics, climate, geography, mode of production, and religion. Loy Krathong is coming next week. Are we ready to celebrate or are we ready to make it right?

It is all acknowledged that the Thais seem to have quite a lot of holidays throughout the year. I don’t think Thais have less official holiday than any other countries around the world. If we look at the calendar, apart from the normal western weekend, we also have official holidays in every month.

In some months, there are more than two official holidays of which have been either determined by Buddhist traditions, agricultural ceremony or political event. Regardless of all traditional background, we tend to ignore the traditional goals and true hidden functions of the ceremony.

Instead, we enjoy any holidays with such a big gathering of friends and relatives and with alcoholic drinks.

Quite a lot of time we found ourselves gone far beyond the boundary of fun and enjoyment. A long holiday of fun and entertainment can turn into the most catastrophic period leading to greatest loss of life and property.

Masterpiece of Prachaub..

This artwork is presented and completed by Prachaub as she is painting real abstract picture.. I do not really know Prachaub painted, it might be sugarcane or banana.. Can any body tell me what is in this painting???

Back from the forest!!!

| | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
This morning when I went to the forest with the tourists who participated in three day mahout training course when I came back from there and take some photo of tourists bathed their elephants. Then I met that Nau Oon she is walking from the forest with her old friend  Sri Siam (His name means great Thailand) Nau Oon she was walking behind and then their mahout took his elephant for bathing..

And I ask the mahout of Nau Oon how long his elephant has been staying in the forest and he said it's about 2 weeks. Because in the past Nau Oon is too small and young to be in the forest, she just stayed closed to the mahout's house. Now they are teaching how to live in the forest at night so that his elephant can spend their privacy their, because any way the nature of elephant is to be in wild.. So Nau Oon can play, jump, rumble or trumpet in the forest without any body bother her..

Then I observe that Nau Oon has less hairs than the past and I asked the mahout what happen to her and he said because Nau Oon she played too much last night as sometimes she scratched her body with the tree so she loose her hair but any way the hair will grow as normal again..

There is some video of Nau Oon and Areena that I would like to show you guys, as I was waiting for the elephant bathing in the afternoon I found that Nau Oon she is rumbling to find for here close friend Areena. Then we can hear that Areena she is reacting to that rumbles. Those sound means that they miss each other as I thought, because this elephants were raised up together when they were born... This elephants will become very good and closed friends any way in the future.

Yesterday afternoon I went to visit AI and Pumpuang at the stable close to the elephant hospital, I found that AI is very playful when he saw me, he tried to push me as now he is very strong. Then I saw him trying to eat some stem of grasses...

I love you Areena and Nau Oon, you are such loveliest baby elephant. Every single day they make me very happy when I see them walking together. If one miss from each other as the mahout took his day off, I feel that I missed somethings. I hope all visitors visitor or our friends watch this video will feel the same as me.

In this video you will see my loveliest elephants enjoy their bathing with their mahout....

Areena she is one month older than Nau Oon. Every day around 13:00 Pm. Nau Oon she always trumpet in order to find Areena where she is, because this two elephants miss each other...

"Boat racing in Nan" by Krisda Momtakhob

This weekend will be a feast for boat racing enthusiasts when the largest dragon boat racing event of the year will be staged on the Nan River in Nan, a sleepy little town with a population of only 70,000 people.

For the rest of the year, nothing wildly exciting happens here. There is not much activity at night as Nan is something of a rarity in Thailand in that it doesn't provide illegal nocturnal 'entertainment' that places such as Pattaya do. However, what Nan has to offer is a peaceful atmosphere for its visitors.

I was recently sitting by the side of the river, enjoying the gentle breeze which wafts across the water by the riverside restaurant, and enjoying some of the local cuisine with my friends.

Suddenly the silence was shattered by the rhythmic chanting of male voices. Then a long boat with sixty oarsmen suddenly materialized right in front of us. It was a narrow wooden craft, thirty metres long, and painted red and gold in the traditional local style. On its bow, a carved image of the Naga towered above the water line to chase away bad spirits, while inviting only the good ones to participate. Its crew, dressed in blue and red velvet shirts paddled furiously against the current to the frantic beating of a drum by the captain, who was sitting on the stern.
