How can I get back to Chiang Mai or Lampang?

You can either take the bus to Chiang Mai at the highway which the bus will pass properly every one hour (if you are lucky, you will wait only about 20 minutes as we do not know exactly the bus timetable and we are between Lampang and Chiang Mai.

Or second option to get back to Chiang Mai by taking the taxi to Chiang Mai which is 1200 Baht or 500 Baht to Lampang. This price is very reasonable as some tourists paid double price of above. Please email me where to pick up if you need transfer to elephant camp or back to Chiang Mai.


What time does the training course finish on the last day?

Our mahout training course is finished around 11:00 Am. and then you will have plenty of time to pack your luggages and take shower and then you can leave the camp...

Where is the closest town?

Lampang is the closest town which is 33 Km and Chiang Mai is about 70 Km. away from Thai Elephant Conservation Center. So the tourists can stay one night in Lampang or Chiang Mai and then organize the transport to the camp. Lampang is very good place as it 's real non-tourist attraction, but there are so many things to see like old temples and nice people. The people in Lampang did not speak English very well, but they will try to communicate them the tourists and they are very friendly not like Chiang Mai most of the taxi driver can speak English.

How to get to Thai Elephant Conservation Center?

It is very easy to get to Thai Elephant Conservation Center from Chiang Mai or Lampang as we are very well - known camp located down south of Chiang Mai.

Either you can hire the car with the driver and tell them that you would like to go the Thai Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang.


What I can bring for the elephant?

I would like to recommend you to buy some peanut or Sun flower seeds as to make friend with them. You will know how much the elephants love to eat that crops and it becomes magic foods for them. 

What is the accommodation like?

We have three comfortable wooden houses which is located perfectly in the Mahout Village. There are three houses with Six rooms simply built in Northern Thai Style and offer standard bedroom as following facilities, Blanket, Bed, thick mattress, Western Toilet, Mosquito net, Water heater, free coffee and clean drinking water.

This accommodation always satisfy all tourists who have been at Thai Elephant Conservation Center. The tourists will have their own room stay and do not need to share with other tourists (Just in some case that they need to share)

We also build one room close to the guest room for the Mahout so our friendly staff will be your neighbor  and good friends.

Can I stay at the camp and let my friend particapate in the course?

Yes you can stay at the camp and let you friend participate in the mahout training course which you will have to pay for food only. Room if you stay with your friends, you will not have to pay for it except you want to open one room for yourself.

Do I need to worry about Malaria risk in your area?

No we are not located in very deep forest  and Thailand has very good and efficient policy in Malaria prevention. We also have mosquito net for the every rooms at the home stay accommodation. Bringing mosquito repellent is good for yourself too.


What should I bring with me?

To participate in our mahout training course, you can bring your normal suits to wear in the evening, some extra moneys to buy some soft drinks or Souvenirs. If you are worried about mosquito, please bring the repellent with.

Note: We offer you the mahout suit during the training lesson


Can I participate in the mahout training course without make reservation in advance?

|
Yes you can do, but our mahout training courses are fully booked year around. So we prefer the tourists with advanced reservation and deposit as priority. So we can not ensure our courses are available.

How many tourists do you accommodate at once time?

We accept up to ten tourists as maximum for the three day and two day mahout training course as we have only ten elephants for both training course. Also we accept about twelve tourists for one day course, but you need to send email to find out the availability of the course.

How much does it cost me to visit the camp?

|
You will pay only for the entrance fee and the shuttle bus to the camp which is only 70 Baht for adult and 50 Baht for children. This price is available for both Thais and Foreigner. If you would like to enjoy elephant riding, you will have to pay additional fee at the camp which is 400 Baht/elephant for half hour ride and 800 Baht for one hour ride. Short riding about fiveteen minutes is 100 Baht / person.

Can I visit the camp not to take the mahout training course?

Yes you can visit our main activities like Elephant Bathing, Elephant Shows, Elephant riding on the saddle, baby elephants and Elephant Hospital. Watching elephant bathing, you should arrive at the camp by 09:00 Am. as our elephant bathing starts at 09:45 Am. and 13:15 Pm available every day. We also offer three shows at 10:00 Am. 11:00 Am. and the last show at 13:30 Pm.


Can I drive to Thai Elephant Conservation Center?

Yes you can drive to Thai Elephant Conservation Center easily. Our camp is located along Lampang - Chiang Mai Highway which is very remarkable between Km. 28-29. We are located down south of Chiang Mai, you just open your travel book and then just drive along the street, you also see a lot of sign of Thai Elephant Conservation Center along the highway when you are nearly reached elephant camp.

Can I stay one night before the course?

Yes you can stay one night before starting the training course next day. The room rate is 500 Baht / room with three bed. This is very highly recommended as every tourists have to check in at the camp by 08:30 Am. of the first day. What you will pay if you would like to stay one night before as following; food is 60 Baht / person / meal, 500 Baht for one room. Please send your email that you request to stay at the camp before the course and then we will check the availability of the room.


Can I fly to Lampang?

Yes you can fly to Lampang easily and then you can stay at the Lampang or take the local taxi to the camp which is only 500 Baht as normal fee. You can check flight schedules or timetable or flight fare at PBair for further information.

Do you have safe box to keep my passport or valuables?

|
We do not have it, but it 's very safe to keep your belongings or valuables including passport or moneys in your room as we have not had any belongings of the tourists stolen at the camp since we opened the camp. The house keepers are the mahout 's wife, so they are very good people that you can trust. You can  leave your valuables in the room and leave the door unlocked. But we also offer keypad for you too.

Do I need to make a reservation in advance?

You need to make reservation for our mahout training course as far advance as possible. Our training courses are always fully booked. Please understand that we will accept only the tourists who paid advanced deposit and reservation as priority.

Can I let my children participate in the course and I will not do the course?

|
Yes you can let your children participate and enjoy our mahout training course and their parents can photograph them during the course. What you will pay if you let your children join our course  is food during stay. Accommodation if you can stay with your children, it 's fee of charge. Food is about 60 Baht/meal.

How old the children are allowed to participate in the training course?

We accept the children at 5 years in our mahout training course as we have small elephants for them to ride. But the fee of the training course is same as adult.
